MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 15th January 2011 to 22nd January 2011

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 15th January 2011 to 22nd January 2011


During the week we reported a total of 90 phishing scams

72 or 80% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.44% HSBC IP Registration 2011 alleged sender HSBC UK reported 11th January 2011

  • 0.42% Chase Secure E-mail Service Update alleged sender 2010 JPMorgan Chase & Co. 201 reported 21st July 2010

  • 0.32% Hnhance Secure Alert: Confirm Password Change alleged sender Satander Bank reported 19th January 2011

  • 0.26% Secure Your Safety. alleged sender Lloyds Tsb Bank reported 18th January 2011

  • 0.24% Battle.net - Login Address Modified alleged sender Blizzard Entertainment reported 17th January 2011

  • 0.24% CONTACT WESTERN UNION OFFICE FOR YOUR PAYMENT, alleged sender BARRISTER GEORGE BEACH ESQ. reported 17th January 2011

  • 0.24% Your Online Banking Has Been suspended alleged sender NatWest OnLine Banking reported 18th January 2011

  • 0.23% Battle.net Account - login validation alleged sender noreply@hucyyzblr.com noreply@ reported 16th January 2011

  • 0.22% NatWest OnLine Banking Account Update alleged sender NatWest Bank reported 18th January 2011
