MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 2nd April 2011 to 9th April 2011

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 2nd April 2011 to 9th April 2011


During the week we reported a total of 78 phishing scams

59 or 76% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.26% o2 TELECOMMUNICATION AWARD alleged sender 02 TELECOMMUNICATIONS AWARD reported 4th April 2011

  • 0.24% Security Update alleged sender Natwest reported 3rd April 2011

  • 0.24% INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND..............02/04/2011 alleged sender MR IDRISSA THIAM reported 4th April 2011

  • 0.24% Your Current Tax Refund Notification alleged sender HM Revenue & Customs reported 1st April 2011
