MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 14th May 2011 to 21st May 2011

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 14th May 2011 to 21st May 2011


During the week we reported a total of 59 phishing scams

51 or 86% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.41% HM Revenue &customs Tax refund Notification. alleged sender Microsoft reported 18th May 2011

  • 0.28% Alert notification : New message from customer serivce alleged sender Lloyds TSB Bank Plc reported 4th November 2010

  • 0.23% NatWest Bank Online Banking Account Security Alert alleged sender Natwest reported 15th May 2011

  • 0.23% Online Security Backup alleged sender Natwest Digital Banking reported 29th June 2010

  • 0.21% RE: POWER WHEELCHAIR: NEVER USED-INVACARE PRONTO M6 - $2400 (TAMPA-33619) DATE: 2011-04-16, 5:20PM EDT REPLY alleged sender Lisa Bennett reported 17th May 2011
