MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 25th June 2011 to 2nd July 2011

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 25th June 2011 to 2nd July 2011


During the week we reported a total of 75 phishing scams

53 or 71% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.31% NEW MESSAGE alleged sender NatWest PLC reported 26th June 2011

  • 0.27% Update Required alleged sender lloydstsbbusiness.com reported 25th June 2011

  • 0.25% Alert notification : New message from customer serivce alleged sender Lloyds TSB Bank Plc reported 4th November 2010

  • 0.24% Rejected Federal Tax transaction alleged sender Internal Revenue reported 21st June 2011

  • 0.23% Online Security Backup alleged sender Natwest Digital Banking reported 29th June 2010

  • 0.22% NOTE: GADHADHARAN PUNATHIL MANI alleged sender ALLIANCE LEICESTER BANK reported 26th June 2011

  • 0.22% RECEIPT FOR YOUR PAYMENT TO SKYPE alleged sender PayPal reported 27th June 2011

  • 0.2% RE-ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT alleged sender Halifax reported 1st May 2008
