MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 10th September 2011 to 17th September 2011

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 10th September 2011 to 17th September 2011


During the week we reported a total of 55 phishing scams

40 or 73% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.61% Online Access Temporarily Suspended alleged sender chase.com Chase Security reported 11th September 2011

  • 0.6% YOU SENT A PAYMENT OF 18.00 GBP TO SKYPE alleged sender PayPal reported 13th September 2011

  • 0.6% AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO HALIFAX CUSTOMERS alleged sender Halifax Online Banking reported 11th September 2011

  • 0.59% You have changed your PayPal email address alleged sender PayPal reported 10th September 2011

  • 0.59% Lloyds TSB - Important Message ! alleged sender Lloyds TSB reported 10th September 2011
