The web consultancy firm Netcraft has stated that many large banks are failing in making sure that their online banking facilities are phishing-proof. Many of their customers are being left unsecure as a result.

Netcraft issued a statement with ComputerWeekly that read "well known banks have created an infestation of application bugs and vulnerabilities across the internet, allowing fraudsters to insert their data collections froms into bona fide banking sites, and creating convincing frauds that are undectable to most customers."

Netcraft has issued this latest warning about phishing attacks following a large rise in scam reports provided by its security toolbar which automatically detects online security attacks.
