MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 10th March 2012 to 17th March 2012

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 10th March 2012 to 17th March 2012


During the week we reported a total of 34 phishing scams

23 or 68% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.86% Account locked alleged sender accounts@craigslist.org reported 11th March 2012

  • 0.83% Jagex Notification About RuneScape Account alleged sender Microsoft reported 11th March 2012

  • 0.81% Security Update alleged sender BT Connect reported 10th March 2012

  • 0.76% Fraud Alert : Reactivate Your Account alleged sender National Australia Bank reported 11th March 2012

  • 0.75% You have changed your PayPal email address alleged sender PayPal reported 10th March 2012

  • 0.74% Google! Email Deletion Confirmation! alleged sender GoogleMail! Team reported 12th March 2012

  • 0.71% Important Chase Security Alert(SM) alleged sender Chase reported 10th March 2012

  • 0.68% Halifax Security Message. alleged sender Halifax Bank reported 13th March 2012
