MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 5th May 2012 to 12th May 2012

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 5th May 2012 to 12th May 2012


During the week we reported a total of 36 phishing scams

28 or 78% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.61% How to update your PayPal Information alleged sender Service reported 6th May 2012

  • 0.6% ACCOUNT SECURITY NOTIFICATION. alleged sender Intelligent Finance reported 7th May 2012

  • 0.6% AMAZON.COM - YOUR CANCELLATION (135-2285-5248) alleged sender Amazon.com reported 8th May 2012

  • 0.6% New voucher payment alleged sender Very.co.uk reported 5th May 2012
