MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 16th March 2013 to 23rd March 2013

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 16th March 2013 to 23rd March 2013


During the week we reported a total of 13 phishing scams

11 or 85% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.4% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-200 alleged sender PayPal reported 3rd March 2013

  • 0.34% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-201 alleged sender PayPal reported 17th March 2013

  • 0.3% We observed multiple login attempt error while login in to your Account alleged sender Bank of America reported 16th March 2013

  • 0.28% Your PayPal account has been limited! alleged sender PayPal reported 19th March 2013

  • 0.26% New Message from Chase (SM)! alleged sender Chase reported 19th March 2013

  • 0.25% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-200 alleged sender PayPal reported 22nd March 2013

  • 0.22% [Bulk] Attention! Your Discover account will close soon! alleged sender Discover reported 19th March 2013

  • 0.21% [Bulk] Unusual charges to a credit card linked to your PayPal account. alleged sender PayPal reported 16th March 2013

  • 0.21% TESCO GIFT alleged sender TESCO BANK reported 22nd March 2013

  • 0.21% IMPORTANT - Online Security Notice(s) alleged sender Tesco Credit Card reported 15th March 2013
