MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 23rd March 2013 to 30th March 2013

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 23rd March 2013 to 30th March 2013


During the week we reported a total of 14 phishing scams

10 or 71% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.32% Vodafone New Message alleged sender Vodafone reported 19th February 2012

  • 0.29% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-200 alleged sender PayPal reported 25th March 2013

  • 0.27% TESCO GIFT alleged sender TESCO BANK reported 22nd March 2013

  • 0.24% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-204 alleged sender PayPal reported 28th March 2013

  • 0.23% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-136-274-597 alleged sender PayPal reported 23rd March 2013

  • 0.22% Dear Barclays Customer alleged sender Barclays reported 25th March 2013

  • 0.22% BT Connect (2013) alleged sender BT Yahoo! Mail reported 23rd March 2013

  • 0.21% Your account has been limited until we hear from you PP-503-472-200 alleged sender PayPal reported 3rd March 2013

  • 0.2% PayPal Service - Update required for your account alleged sender paypal.co.uk reported 24th March 2013

  • 0.2% BT Yahoo! Connect© (2013) alleged sender BT Yahoo! Security Service reported 25th March 2013
