MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 21st September 2013 to 28th September 2013

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 21st September 2013 to 28th September 2013


During the week we reported a total of 52 phishing scams

21 or 40% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.31% Your Order with Amazon.com alleged sender AUTO-CONFIRM@AMAZON.COM reported 8th October 2012

  • 0.26% Online Update From HM Revenue and Customs alleged sender HM Revenue and Customs reported 16th April 2009

  • 0.2% Please confirm your information on our database alleged sender Wal-Mart reported 8th October 2007

  • 0.19% Please sign in your USAA account, verify and update your profile immediately alleged sender USAA reported 23rd December 2005

  • 0.19% You have a new message. 208.43.198.157 alleged sender paypal reported 1st August 2011

  • 0.15% IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING INTERNET BANKING alleged sender Lloyds TSB PLC reported 26th September 2013

  • 0.15% CUA WEB BANKER check your account profile now! alleged sender CUA Web reported 2nd April 2010
