MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 28th June 2014 to 5th July 2014

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 28th June 2014 to 5th July 2014


During the week we reported a total of 15 phishing scams

14 or 93% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.8% You have a new message. 208.43.198.157 alleged sender paypal reported 1st August 2011

  • 0.42% We have temporarily suspended access to your Natwest Account. alleged sender NatWest reported 2nd July 2014

  • 0.42% Verification of Account alleged sender NATWEST reported 1st July 2014

  • 0.4% Confirm your BT.com email address alleged sender BT reported 2nd July 2014

  • 0.38% DEAR HALIFAX MEMBER, alleged sender Halifax reported 30th June 2014

  • 0.35% NOTIFICATION OF EXPIRATION OF YOUR ACCOUNT. alleged sender Apple reported 30th June 2014

  • 0.34% DEAR HALIFAX CUSTOMER, alleged sender Halifax reported 29th June 2014

  • 0.34% UPDATE MISSING INFORMATION alleged sender Amazon Security Team reported 30th June 2014

  • 0.34% NatWest YourPoints Online alleged sender Natwest reported 1st July 2014

  • 0.33% International Monetary Fund(IMF) alleged sender IMF reported 29th June 2014

  • 0.33% Account Reveiw alleged sender National Westminster reported 3rd July 2014

  • 0.29% Your Hsbc Secure Key alleged sender HSBC BANK PLC reported 3rd July 2014
