MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 7th January 2017 to 14th January 2017

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 7th January 2017 to 14th January 2017


During the week we reported a total of 27 phishing scams

26 or 96% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.34% your account has been limited until we hear from you alleged sender service@intl.paypal.com reported 8th January 2017

  • 0.33% Your account has been suspended alleged sender NatWest reported 8th January 2017

  • 0.31% HSBC BANK ALERTS SERVICE UPDATE alleged sender HSBC - UK reported 7th January 2017

  • 0.3% Your Order with Amazon.com alleged sender AUTO-CONFIRM@AMAZON.COM reported 8th October 2012

  • 0.26% A woman has recently tagged your current profile alleged sender AOL reported 9th January 2017

  • 0.24% A girl has marked your current profile page alleged sender AOL reported 9th January 2017

  • 0.22% Someone has marked your current personal profile alleged sender AOL reported 11th January 2017

  • 0.21% Security Alert: Suspicious Activity alleged sender Bank of America Alert reported 8th January 2017

  • 0.2% YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS TEMPORARILY LIMITED alleged sender PayPal reported 7th January 2017

  • 0.2% Somebody has already tagged your current profile alleged sender AOL reported 9th January 2017
