MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 21st January 2017 to 28th January 2017

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 21st January 2017 to 28th January 2017


During the week we reported a total of 14 phishing scams

13 or 93% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.36% NatWest - Account Review Notification alleged sender NatWest. reported 24th January 2017

  • 0.35% Someone appears to have marked your current profile alleged sender AOL reported 23rd January 2017

  • 0.28% A woman appears to have tagged your very own profile page alleged sender AOL reported 26th January 2017

  • 0.27% New Alert Notice alleged sender USAA reported 21st January 2017

  • 0.27% A person has now tagged your current user profile alleged sender AOL reported 25th January 2017

  • 0.25% attention your paypal account need update immediatly alleged sender service@paypal.com reported 25th January 2017
