MillerSmiles provides its weekly phishing analysis for the week of 11th February 2017 to 18th February 2017

Over the last week MillerSmiles has received many scams from the public and through its HoneyTrap scam detection system. Below we provide an analysis of the scams we have received for the week of 11th February 2017 to 18th February 2017


During the week we reported a total of 17 phishing scams

14 or 82% of these scams linked to websites that were still online and live, ready to capture personal data, when we reported them

The 12 most popular scams as defined by search engine visits to our archive of scams we reported this week and in previous weeks were (as percentage of all visits to the site)

  • 0.29% CHASE BANK - NOTICE! alleged sender Chase reported 7th February 2017

  • 0.26% YOUR APPLE-ID WAS USED TO SIGN IN TO ICLOUD VIA NEW DEVICE. alleged sender Apple reported 13th February 2017

  • 0.24% .Chase.Bank.Attention: A new payee has been added alleged sender Chase Bank Alert reported 13th February 2017

  • 0.23% .Bank.Of.America: Security Update Required..... alleged sender Bank of America... Alert reported 12th February 2017

  • 0.23% PLEASE UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION alleged sender BANK OF AMERICA reported 10th February 2017

  • 0.22% YOUR APPIE LD IS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED. alleged sender Apple reported 7th February 2017
