Phishing has become such a prevalent online phenomenon that the Oxford English Dictionary has included the word in its latest publication.
The inclusion of the new noun is testament to the ever increasing frequency with which the online public is stumbling across the scams.
Other words to enter the new dictionary are "chav", "lush" and "beatbox".
Editors of the famous dictionary will typically only include words which they believe will stay popular and relevant for many years.
